My Students

My students are a group of curious, energetic preschoolers with special needs. Most of my students come from military families stationed in Hawaii or local families. Since we are a Title I school, we have a considerable percentage of students from low-income families.

My students' resilience, courage, and positive attitude towards learning is an inspiration to everyone at school, especially to me!

For this amazing group of preschoolers, there is no challenge big enough; they come to school every day excited to learn something new, and work hard towards the accomplishment of their goals.

Our classroom is a fully self-contained special education preschool classroom and my students (age 3 through 5) require specialized instruction, related services, resources, and hands-on materials to address their communication, adaptive behavioral, sensory, and developmental delays and needs.

My Project

After a challenging year, some of our students may have experienced loss of skills and regression due to the unprecedented events and changing conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to welcome my students to an engaging and carefully designed new school year, and provide them with the supports they need to catch up, re-learn, and re-adjust so they can continue to make progress and achieve their individualized goals and objectives.

These materials and resources will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with tools to address their social-emotional, communication, sensory, pre-academic, and physical needs that may have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Resources such as rhyme sorting houses, learning center pocket chart, storyteller writing box, category and descriptive words sorting rods will help my students practice their reading, and develop phonological awareness.

Other materials like behavior and mindfulness books will serve as support to address their social-emotional learning. TpT gift cards, cardstock, and laminating pouches will facilitate the design of individualized materials and hands-on activities to practice their IEP goals and objectives. Play dough, writing claws, adaptive scissors, blocks, and rainbow parachute will will help them catch up on their fine and gross motor skills.

I can't think of a better way to welcome back our amazing preschoolers to an exciting new school year than to carefully planning and designing their learning experience focusing in all areas of their development!
