Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently have a classroom with 12 children who have moderate-severe autism. They are experiencing speech delays, developmental delays, social skill delays, and some have co-occurring health conditions and behaviors which can impede learning as well. Since we are a preschool, students join us when they turn three.
Our students sensory needs create the need for opportunities to run, jump and use equipment that allows them to regulate themselves.
Everything on this list will be used for these purposes. Running, jumping, making slime, holding vibrating and heated objects create "calm down" time for our students who need it the most.
There are also items in this order that help create social opportunities for our children through playground play, art and table top games. This will help address the social skill deficits some of our children are experiencing.

Our preschoolers experience delays in social and sensory areas.
We need many items which are outside the traditional district curriculum! We love to jump, learn how to play games with typical peers and request a turn.
We have one student in particular who is borrowing the heated massage pad and uses in the mornings to get ready for her day.
We have another student who has gross motor delays who is not yet confident enough to ride a bike or scooter but enjoys a borrowed balance bike; to have our own would be perfect!
These items will help us make friends and learn to regulate our bodies and emotions.
