This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Children come to school ready to learn and participate in new activities. My children are very bright learners, but it took them a significant amount of time to learn to grasp a pencil or create detailed drawings. When it came to assessing what tools were available for the children to use in order to strengthen their fine motor skills, there were only pencils, crayons, and markers.

Fine motor skills involve the movements of small muscles that require a child's brain to coordinate between the action and what they are seeing.

Fine motor skills can impact things like holding a fork to eat or using a pencil to write. My classroom is in serious need of new tools that allow them to play, think, and strengthen their fine motor skills. I want to be sure my classroom has the tools to learn and grow and be prepared for writing and drawing in Kindergarten!
