My school is located in Baltimore City. I teach in a middle school classroom. It's a pretty small school in comparison to many other schools around Baltimore.
How can I describe my students?
Well, Bold. Outspoken. Inquisitive. Smart. Silly. Funny. Those are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of my students. They push themselves to succeed and learn new things on a daily basis. They persevere through adversities.
I absolutely love my students, and I can't wait to see what positive things they contribute to the world.
Currently my students are working really hard toward our goals of scoring Proficient or Advanced on the end of the year English PARCC test. Currently, all of our 6th-8th grade students share one computer cart with about 25 laptops. This can get tricky when different classes need to use the computers for assessments and other projects. We need these computers so that not only students can become computer savvy and 21st century learners, but we also need the computers so that students can practice test-taking with the computers. The PARRC test is 100% done on a computer. This means students need to practice annotating an online text, selecting multiple choice answers, and drafting and typing a written response. Students must practice these skills in order to be successful. The more exposure they have with computer programs, the better they will perform and reach their goals. In addition, these computers will allow students to work on various research projects that we will have throughout the school year.
