This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My pre-k students are about to embark on a unit-study about Buildings. We work in a dual-language school where all of our students are language learners. Our goal is to inspire these young learners, with age-appropriate books and materials that encourage them to explore buildings, imagination, and creativity.
Currently, our selection of building-themed books and materials is limited, which restricts our students' opportunities to expand their vocabulary, build background knowledge, and engage in a variety of rich literature.
The books and materials donated through this project will provide our students with a stronger foundation for language and vocabulary development, ultimately enhancing their reading experience.
Choosing the right age-appropriate books and materials exposes children to new vocabulary, varied language patterns, and diverse ideas. This not only enhances their vocabulary but also boosts their cognitive development. Moreover, it encourages independent thinking and helps them learn about the world in a fun and engaging way.
