Help me give my students a safe rest period. When the schools reopen the students will have to bring a blanket to place on top of their mats, as ours have holes and are torn.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are excited and eager to begin school. Their families have to apply to attend this school. We are an income-based school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Almost everything our school does is grant funded.
My Project
These rest mats are needed to provide a safe spot for my 3 and 4 year old students to rest in the afternoon. Our school is largely grant funded and low income. All of our students get free breakfasts and lunches. It would mean so much to be able to provide them all with new mats when we go back to the classroom. Currently, our mats are torn and have several holes in them.
These new mats will make rest time better as they will be able to bring a blanket to cover themselves up with rather than their mats.
It would be wonderful to welcome them to school with nice, clean mats. Further having these treated mats without holes will make it much easier to clean between the students and hopefully prevent fewer illnesses within my classroom.
