Help me give my students the materials needed to provide for hands-on Science exploration. These materials and equipment will provide the engaging activities needed to learn Science. The activities will allow learning through inquiry and exploration.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Pre-K classroom is filled with 20 energy filled four/ five-year-olds. They are like busy little bees buzzing about our room looking eager to learn and discover new things. My school has a large population of "at risk" students and English Language Learners. My goal in Pre-K is to give them a solid, nurturing foundation while preparing them for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
Despite the daily challenges my students face, they arrive at school each day ready to learn and explore.
My kids are so motivated to learn. I strive each day to make learning fun and engaging for them. Research shows that learning occurs best through fun, engaging activities and that young children learn through playing and exploring the world around them. I believe that children should be able to move, touch and connect to the curriculum. In Science, the best learning occurs through inquiry and conducting hands-on-experiments.
My Project
The Science viewers, Discovery tubes, Volcano and Engineering kits will provide the engaging activities kids need to learn Science. Being able to use a real working microscope to observe authentic specimens, will allow learning through inquiry and exploration. My class will develop important Science skills while conducting their own investigations and experiments using the Create your own Volcano kit and Magnet discovery kit. These items will be a fun way to engage them in the curriculum and hold their attention. I don't think that they will even know that learning is taking place.! My hope is that this project increases my students joy of Science. These fun and engaging materials will allow Science to come alive and perhaps ignite a spark to further explore a career in STEM. My hope is that the materials will help the kids to gain a better understanding of the Science that is around them.
