My students need lab coats, safety goggles, building materials, ramps, magnets, magnifiers, storage containers and an iPad mini to enter into our unit of problem solving.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I challenge the minds of three to five year old pre-K students. These are our future scientists and engineers. My students are natural problem solvers with ideas to share. What a gift to be able to develop ideas to help other people. Our class lacks resources to be creative and inventive.
Our school is a high poverty school with families of low income and families who have dreams for their children to succeed.
All children have the capacity to be critical thinkers when challenged.
My students always want to know what is next. They want to do something new all of the time. I am looking forward to giving them an exciting unit of study that will give them a solid foundation of science to begin their educational journey.
My Project
I have requested lab coats and goggles to help my students create an environment of a scientist, inventor or engineer. In addition, I have ordered building materials like blocks, magnets, tools, connectors ramps and gears so that we can brainstorm on problems our society faces and then with our materials create a solution. To keep the materials organized, I requested storage containers and organizers. Finally, I would like an iPad mini for students to design solutions in a digital manner and a protection plan in case the iPad is damaged. Our goal as a school is to close the digital divide that exists between our school and schools with more resources.
My students will feel empowered when they realize at an early age they can make a difference in the great big world.
This donation will have a great impact on my students by giving them an opportunity at an early age to start developing a dream to be a scientist, inventor or engineer.
They will develop vocabulary for science and reasons to think and be creative.
Our country is falling behind when it comes to science and my students will contribute to society as they become more and more interested in solving problems in our country.
