This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach pre k aged children in a Title I early childhood center. My district is a low socioeconomic area. I enjoy bringing experiences to the classroom that the children may not otherwise get to experience. My students love learning. Some children struggle with self regulation skills. I ensure that there are many and varied opportunities for the children in my class to learn and grow socially. My students enjoy a hands-on approach to learning and thrive in a well organized classroom.
My Project
The children will use the painting easel to be creative and expressive while painting. It will assist in allowing the children to be artists. I believe painting independently at an easel can develop more confident children in self expression. It will also allow children to use social skills while verbalizing about their creations. The teaching easel will be used during large and small group instruction. It will be useful in keeping group instruction organized and visually appealing. The easel will also be used for interactive and shared writing activities, in which children take the pen and participate in guided writing activities.
