When I use the sand in our sensory center, they get so excited! We also use it for pre writing skills. The dramatic play outfits were an instant favorite and our students couldn't wait to try them on. We created a whole team of little community helpers in action. There were tiny firefighters racing to imaginary emergencies, doctors giving checkups, and police officers directing \"traffic\" around the reading corner. It was incredible to see how naturally they stepped into these roles and how much pride they took in pretending to be people who help others. These costumes have brought so much joy and learning to our days sparking great conversations and helping students better understand the world around them. The science kits and musical instruments added even more excitement to our lessons. We've been exploring hands-on experiments, like testing what objects sink or float, and learning about sound through vibrations. The kids were fascinated and eager to try everything themselves. With the musical instruments, we've started simple rhythm activities, and it's been such a great way for them to express themselves and collaborate with each other. Later on in the year our school will host a Community Helper Day where each student will pick a community helper to \"become\" dressing up, sharing facts, and even incorporating music or a science activity to go along with their presentation. These resources have truly brought our lessons to life, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity they've given my students to learn in such meaningful and playful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1746787325048,"projectUrl":"project/bridging-disciplines-educational-materi/9292143/","projectTitle":"Bridging Disciplines: Educational Materials for Social Studies, Arts and Music","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cassey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6090146_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726175635007","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6090146"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11978","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":408,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":75,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.1,"schoolId":11978,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Amber Terrace Discovery and Design Early Childhood Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Amber Terrace Discovery and Design Early Childhood Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/desoto-independent-school-district/amber-terrace-intermediate-school/11978"}
