Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students just turned three years old. I am piloting a three-year-old half-day program in an inner-city low-income school.

The children are excited and ready to learn.

Most of the students I serve are English Language Learners and will be in a bilingual program.

The mission of this program is to teach children English and sustain their Spanish speaking skills. Starting early will give them a head start on their educational journey. This will enable them to have many opportunities in their futures, but also facilitate educational success.

My Project

My students need a variety of paint and tools for the art center and art centered activities.

By having a variety of paint and tools my students will be able to be creative, regulate emotions, and develop fine motor skills.

I teach all subjects to my students, therefore I get to provide their art education as well.

In order for them to be creative and explore painting they need paint in a variety of colors. Thankfully, we have a variety of painting tools for them to enjoy with the paint.

Having paint available for my students also provides many opportunities for them to develop their oral language skills. By having to explain and share about their creation also provides for them a way to share different parts of their lives or emotions.
