My students just turned three years old. I am piloting a three-year-old half-day program in an inner-city low-income school.
The children are excited and ready to learn.
Most of the students I serve are English Language Learners and will be in a bilingual program.
The mission of this program is to teach children English and sustain their Spanish speaking skills. Starting early will give them a head start on their educational journey. This will enable them to have many opportunities in their futures, but also facilitate educational success.
My three year olds need a set of table and chairs to create a music center in our classroom. They would also benefit from a bell center where they can create music.
They have loved exploring the musical intruments during group time but need a physical space where they can actually explore the music independently or with a friend.
This would allow them to put into practice the variety of music skills they have learned.
They enjoy using shakers and bells when they are learning about creating loud and soft sounds. They also are enjoying to explore how to create music using patterns.
