Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an enthusiastic group of 2nd-grade students who are eager to learn. We are a Title I school that mostly serves low-income/disadvantaged students. In addition, the majority of our students are English Language Learners and many of their parents are non-English speakers.

Regardless of their circumstances, my students put their best foot forward, striving to not let anything get in their way.

I'm such a lucky teacher to work with these kids on a daily basis and to get to know their families. They truly continue to amaze me.

My Project

Please help me give my students mindful coloring books to help center them during times when stress and anxiety levels are high. Given this difficult year, many students are also having a hard time focusing. Mindful coloring has shown that it can reduce stress, anxiety, improve focus, vision and motor skills. I would like to provide my students with a time to focus on mindfulness by allowing them to be in the present and simply focus on color and design. This is somewhat similar to meditation when all other thoughts are set aside, and your focus and awareness is toward the present activity. This is not only something that is beneficial, but is also enjoyable. I can't wait to provide this opportunity for my students.
