Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are from working-class families and are motivated and determined to learn science. They always attend class in person or remotely when the weather does not cooperate. They make continuing efforts to balance their education with their emotional challenges.

These Lab Coats project focuses on boosting students' confidence to act as scientists in the Lab.

Wearing their lab coats while experimenting can boost their confidence in becoming a scientist. It will help them make connections with the Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) which are to construct explanations and design solutions. It is an opportunity for many of my students to see themselves as scientists to practice the profession they want to pursue when they graduate. Some of them want to be veterinarians, marine biologists, medical doctors, and environmentalists.

I believe this project will continue to motivate them in their educational journey.
