Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 6th grade at a public school in a very poor economic area in Utah. I teach all subjects, including an after school soccer program. I am also in charge of the MESA program for minorities and female 5th and 6th grade students.
My students do not have the access they need to books, especially high quality literature. I have been trying to build my library, but with the limited money and supplies, it is not growing very rapidly. My students are very receptive to my encouragement when it comes to reading and I am excited to be able to provide them with an opportunity to read great books!
I need books for my classroom. I choose a variety of books to use in math, social studies, and especially to use in my language arts class. These books will be greatly beneficial to my students. Many students do not have books at home or the access to any good reading materials. I want to provide them with the access to a variety of excellent books!
This donation will ensure that my students will have the access to reading material that will influence their education for years to come!
