Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A full class of four and five year old children is a challenge in its self, but with no teacher's aide it is more difficult to be able to devote time to the children that need remediation and differentiated instruction.

My students come from low to middle income families.

Even though the majority of them are English Learners, they come in every morning ready and eager to learn. They are very sweet and they are always trying to please me. I have one special needs student that needs a lot of attention which I cannot give her because I don't have a teacher's aide. Because our school is not a Program Improvement School, our budget is very limited and there is no money for teacher assistants in all classrooms. Therefore, teacher assistants are strategically placed and there aren't any in Kindergarten.

My Project

I am requesting the Listen and Learn Activity Program and the Ready-To-Go Listening Center because I will be able to have up to eight students, independently and quietly, review and practice what they have been taught in class while I differentiate instruction for those students that are struggling. I will also be able to work with small groups which allows for more one on one instruction.

My project is very important because having these supplemental tools will help with mastery of phonics lessons taught.

The saying is "Practice makes perfect.", but perfection is unattainable so I want my students to be best they can be at what they already know. They will be able to do this with the materials I am requesting.
