My Students

The students in my classes are a very diverse group of kids from primarily the area around our school, but some do travel quite a few miles to attend our small school. Parents provide their own transportation, which shows a great commitment to their children getting a good education and for many, this is a hardship as well. I am the Technology instructor, facilitating an online digital citizenship and technology curriculum that every one of our students attend every third day in a rotation with art and music. The kids LOVE Technology class, especially the ones who don't have access to the internet or technology at home. In talking with the students, it would be my guess that more than half of them do not have internet or access to technology devices at home.

My Project

If I could keep our new coding and STEM items charged up and ready to go for all students, they'd love them even more than they do now! Through generous donations, I have been acquiring some coding and STEM toys and activities, but except for board and card games, they all take batteries or recharging via USB.

We've received Ozobots and tablets and those are wildly popular with the kiddos, but the freehand coding requires colored markers that I am quickly running out of and the Ozobots require USB charging.

Our new robot mice use lots of batteries as well!
