Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a wonderful school full of children who are ready to learn.
I teach 30 amazing second graders from diverse backgrounds.
My students range from above grade level to below grade level. Many of our students are English Language Learners also. That being said, we have a very diverse learning environment. We are proud to be a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence and have won many prestigious awards. Since we are not a Title I School, funding extra projects is sometimes very difficult.
My Project
Teachers have to make everything fit into a very tight schedule. We are great at integrating subjects and curriculum. With an added 200 minutes of Physical Education every ten days, I felt faint! How in the world do I make PE fun and not feel like a chore.
Power Bands to the Rescue!
These Unicef Power Bands will make my students as well as myself excited about being active! Students will wear them during the day and be able to watch their progress. By staying active, students will unlock missions within the Power Bands. We will be able to sync their bands and unlock missions to learn about our world. This will allow us to integrate science, social studies as well as mathematics and reading...and Physical education of course.
