Our students come from culturally diverse working families. They have so many talents to share. We are known for having an accepting and positive culture with many student-centered clubs and projects. We are a Title I school, and the majority of our students are BIPOC.
They are exceptional kids with so much to offer.
Many of our students have spent most of their high school years in the temporary camp of portables while the new school was being built. After a partial year in the new school, the students had to leave because of shelter in place for Covid-19. We want to provide them with all of the tools necessary to achieve.
Our kids learn confidence through doing things they didn't know they were capable of. These kids work hard and are proud of their accomplishments.
My Project
This project is to fund a student scholarship for one Senior to earn a pottery wheel. Does it make you cringe when you hear an adult say "I used to be an artist"? Let's change that.
One graduating Senior will be awarded this pottery wheel and throwing tools to develop their craft beyond high school and hopefully inspire their own business.
Students love to work toward excellence. Why should anyone have to leave their talents after high school graduation. Dedication to the art and craft of pottery making requires discipline and dedication. This Aspire Shimpo Pottery Wheel and Kemper tools will help a graduating student to further their artistic practice. Hopefully the recipient will help to inspire others to continue and build the craft.
