My Project

Throwing is an essential skill in the ceramics world. Not only can you make beautiful and useful objects, such as dishes, bowls, vases, and cups, but thrown pieces can be used as the basis for sculptures as well. Students love throwing, but with only two wheels in the room for twenty or more students, it's tough for everyone to get a turn. This wheel will help me teach this essential skill to more students per semester, and give them practice time.

My ceramics room is more than just a fun place to learn - it's a dynamic environment that teaches students important life skills, including perseverance.

Throwing is not easy. It takes practice, grit, patience, and skill. It takes critical thinking. It takes being able to see a project through from idea to reality, and thinking it through its many steps before you start.

With another pottery wheel in our space, students will be able to take control of their learning, be self-directed, and emerge from ceramics class with a lifelong skill. Thank you for your support!
