Potential & Kinetic Energy: Hands On Fun

Help me give my students hands on experiences learning about potential and kinetic energy. We hope to ultimately build mini-electric vehicles.

My Project

I work at a public charter school in San Francisco. We love to learn through inquiry (exploring, discovering and creating as we learn). My kiddos are inquisitive, energetic kids who light up when they are busy with projects.

This project works with potential and kinetic energy.

At the beginning of the unit, students will explore marbles and other materials to learn about how energy is transferred. After learning the basics of energy transfer, we will move onto electric energy!

Kids will end the year learning about electric energy by working in groups to create electrically charged vehicles using batteries alongside recycled materials.
