Posturing Ourselves for Greatness!

Help me give my students an opportunity to practice using their instruments and voices while utilizing correct posture. These chairs will help align their bodies in the correct form to improve both their musicianship and vocal abilities.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As both a Music Educator and musician, I've always been told the correct posture is the absolute foundation of being a great musician and vocalist. Especially, in the seated position. A quote by Cindy Ann Peterson says "Posture or postura, however you say it, make it confident and positively your best."

These stools with help my Orchestra and Chorus students achieve just that.

Students rely on the back of their seats to lean back and slouch and with these stools that reliance will be subsided and redirected to maintain correct posture/ proper alignment of the body.

My goal is to have successful musicians/vocalist that practices and utilize proper posture in order to have a long and physically health musical career. The students of the KMS Orchestra and Chorus are very special to me. They live in an area where the Fine Arts are not prominent and are seen as just another music class. The students in my classes are bold enough to go against the "norm" branch into a different genres and cultures of music that makes me appreciate they’re confident.

We do not have all the materials we probably should have but we make do and they excel each year. I'm so happy that I came across these stools that can help both groups achieve the same goal. If we are granted these stools we will be greatly appreciative. Thanks!
