When we unveiled the new kicking net, kicking tee, mouthpieces, training ropes, and speed equipment, the players were filled with excitement and energy. These resources have quickly become a part of our daily training sessions, and the athletes are taking full advantage of them. Most recently, the kicking net and tee have been central to the development of one of our younger players, who is now training to attempt field goals and extra points, something that would not have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping us strengthen not only athletic performance but also the confidence, discipline, and teamwork of our students. We believe strongly that athletics serve as an extension of the classroom, teaching critical life lessons about perseverance, leadership, and resilience. By providing our athletes with professional-grade training tools, you are helping us instill these values in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nAs we look forward, we are thrilled to expand the use of this equipment beyond football. Our girls' and boys' basketball teams will soon be incorporating the speed equipment and training ropes into their conditioning routines as they prepare for the upcoming season. Each student received a goodie bag filled with candy, bookmarks, and inspirational items. When the students first saw the materials, they were elated and truly thankful. Their smiles and words of appreciation said it all—it meant so much to them to be celebrated in such a thoughtful way.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was seeing a group of students exchanging their favorite quotes from the bookmarks and talking about how inspired they felt. It was a simple but powerful reminder of how small gestures can spark positivity and motivation.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my next step is to continue encouraging my students to keep reading, believe in themselves, and reach for the skies. When our students first received their financial literacy kits, complete with interactive workbooks, budgeting games, and real-world financial scenarios, their excitement was undeniable. One memorable moment was when a group of students collaborated on a budgeting challenge, using their newfound skills to allocate a fictional salary for monthly expenses. Seeing them critically think about needs versus wants and confidently discuss savings strategies was a powerful testament to how these resources are making a lasting impact.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our students are building on these lessons by diving deeper into real-world financial planning. Currently, they are working on a business pitch project where they will apply their budgeting and investment knowledge to develop and present small business ideas. This next step not only reinforces financial literacy concepts but also encourages leadership, creativity, and confidence, core values of the Leading Ladies initiative. The Georgia Book Award program is a great way to get children interested in reading and we had a record number of students read the nominees this year. The committee at the University of Georgia chose twenty wonderful titles from different genres, including six graphic novels. Our students were able to find at least three books that interested them, so they were eligible to vote this week. The results were very close, but Frizzy by Claribel A. Ortega was the winner at KMS.\r\nWe promoted the books in numerous ways. They are able to see the words in English and in French. The posters are large and full of color which is great for new people learning a new language. They are able to utilize the pencils, color pencils as they color and explore the different regions of French speaking countries. \r\n As always when young students obtain new items they are elated. Nothing is more awesome then to see their faces light up when they saw the new resources in the learning environment \r\n Our next step is for the students to learn more about French. For example, in the United States of America. The flag is red, white and blue. The students will see how different countries have different colors and symbols on their flags.
