My Students

Do you remember in your Biology class when you completed your first dissection. The thrill!! The excitement of seeing INSIDE a mammal! Using cat dissections in class will fully engage my students and give them the thrill that some of us were lucky enough to experience. Please, help my students!

My students are located in urban Illinois and take public transportation from all over the city to attend school.

Some travel for 2 hours just to be able to experience learning in our wonderful school environment. My school thrives to impose well rounded, college ready students who have gained the knowledge and skills to be successful in any post secondary path. We are increasing our STEM opportunities by increasing the number of offered STEM electives and with this comes higher finding needs. They want to learn and my school wants to be able to provide them a real world view of STEM careers and teach them the skills to perform well.

My Project

I am asking for assistance in being able to provide my students with full size cats for dissection. This will give my students the opportunity to be able to learn proper dissection techniques. They will also be given the chance to see the insides of a mammal after learning about the organs and the organ systems in class. This will instill a sense of wonder and amazement in the students and inspire some of them to continue their learning in this area.

This project is so important to me because I feel that you can not learn anything without experiencing it firsthand.

Learning results from being so engaged and excited about what you are doing, that it leads to a positive emotional, learning experience.
