Our students represent a wide variety of ability, need, and socio-economic status. Annually, around 70% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. We also represent diversity through multiple ethnicities and languages. We have over 30 countries represented, and a flag flies high in our cafe for each! While the proximity to the university brings our school an abundance of families with diverse ethnicities and backgrounds, we also host a large population of students who have rarely ventured further than their own community. We represent the world at large and we know that creativity and imagination know no boundaries. Our school is bursting with ideas! We celebrate our school family on a daily basis and are proud to be part of such a positive community.
My Project
My students need paper. Lots of it! As we roll through January and deeper into the new year, it has become clear to me that my students LOVE paper projects!
This supply of colorful paper will ensure that my K-4 students will have the materials needed to complete our many art projects centered around paper.
K-1 "paints" paper for an Eric Carle themed project with animals. 2nd grade continues their paper weaving to connect cultures and content. While 3rd and 4th grade experiment with "gel-prints" and layered paper collage. All of these projects scream for PAPER, PAPER and more PAPER!
While we have been blessed with an abundance of markers, paints and print materials, specialty paper is the one thing we keep running out of. It holds up to painting, printing, folding and cutting. Help us continue creating without holding back. Bring on the paper!
