My Students

I am living the dream teaching Fifth graders in my hometown! Serving alongside my former teachers is the coolest experience! I serve a diverse group of kids who have many different interests and unique learning styles. I'm excited to take my students on a world-wide adventure as we dive into reading and explore literacy in new and exciting ways!

Fredrick Douglas said "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free", so in giving my students the tools to read, they are being empowered to choose the lives they want to lead.

This is my hope and my mission for each generation that walks into my classroom.

My Project

We want to kick off the 2020-2021 school year with creative lessons to engage our young readers! After being taken out of their classrooms abruptly, I know my students can't wait to get back with their friends and teachers!

This project is designed to provide resources to promote positivity and a growth mindset, highlight each child's potential, and encourage students to see their value.

These resources will be used to create student portfolios throughout the year. Students will set goals in writing and reading throughout the year, working to reach personal and academic growth in both subject areas. One of the main goals students will work towards is writing five paragraph essays in the three modes of writing. Students will evaluate peers and themselves using the rubrics purchased with the gift card. Students will use these portfolios to demonstrate growth throughout the year as they grow as readers, writers, and independent thinkers.
