Positive Rewards Are Very Motivating!

My students need classroom tablets because we have no technology in our classroom. The students take Accelerated Reading tests and I would love them to be a motivator for getting work completed.

My Students

I teach at a Title One school with about 80% on free and reduced lunch. My students are very motivated by technology. I would like to have tablets available to motivate students to complete assignments. We do not have computers in the classroom but we do have a computer lab. We are only able to use the lab once a week. If I have tablets in my room the students could read more than one book a week because they could take Accelerated Reading tests daily if I had tablets.

My Project

It will help track reading by students. My students are required to take a test over their books after reading them. Most will finish a book and won’t read another one until they take the test. With tablets in my room they can take a test right away and start a new book immediately. It will increase work completion in class. Many of my students have no real motivation to complete their work. I am sure when they see students finish what they are assigned and then they can work on the tablets, that they will be more motivated to try harder to get work in. This will also increase knowledge because they are increasing practice of new skills.
