My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences in my classroom.

Life Long Learners is what I want my students to be.

With that being said I am looking for growth mindset activities for my students to work on after completing their assignment. In the past they have been given free time. I would like to keep them curious and engaged as much as possible.

My Project

A growth mindset is when students understand that their abilities can be developed. Unfortunately, the majority of students do not naturally inhibit a growth mindset. Fortunately, growth mindset is something that I can help my students develop and grow! Growth mindset activities are going to give my students different activities to work on once they finish their assignment. I am creating a corner where they can go and pull out a bin, open it and try and create or build the object. These are objects that are simple but they need to follow directions or steps in order to build it.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive to their peers when they are given a choice of what to work on.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional growth mindset activities to try. All of these items that I am asking for have the students building objects. This is a simple activity that they can choose to complete when they have finished their work.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional choices will help my students even grow more!
