My Project

Our classroom promotes Social Emotional Learning (SEL) using the PBIS framework (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) that emphasizes creating predictable, supportive environments where students can meet expectations of feeling safe, manage their emotions, be respectful, and responsible. Currently, we do not have a designated meeting area or classroom rug, which makes it difficult for students to understand and practice these expectations during instruction.

A classroom rug would provide a visually defined, structured space that supports Social Emotional Learning incorporating PBIS by helping students manage their emotions, setting goals, learn where their bodies should be, how to transition safely, and how to engage respectfully with peers during lessons and activities.

It would significantly improve our ability to teach and model the behavioral expectations that SEL and PBIS relies on.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
