My Project

Incentives help establish clear expectations for behavior.

By linking rewards to positive behaviors and achievements, students have a better understanding of what is expected of them.

This clarity reduces ambiguity and helps students focus on meeting those expectations. Incentives can reinforce positive behavior through a process known as behavioral conditioning. When students experience positive outcomes as a result of their actions, they are more likely to repeat those actions in the future. Incentives often offer immediate gratification, which is appealing to students. They can see the direct correlation between their actions and the rewards they receive, making it more likely that they will engage in the desired behaviors. Incentives provide students with recognition and acknowledgment for their efforts. This recognition can boost their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment, reinforcing their commitment to positive behavior.

Over time, the goal is for my students to internalize the values and behaviors that lead to positive outcomes, reducing the reliance on external rewards, but these incentives will help along the way. There has been a remarkable improvement in the school culture and behavior incidents since revamping our incentive store. Students look forward to each opening and are passionate about earning PBIS tickets - the "currency" to shop at the store.
