Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of absolutely wonderful fifth and sixth graders at an urban school where 73% of the students are classified as low-income, and 77% receive free or reduced-price lunches. Many students come with math and reading deficits. Out of my 27 learners, 14 have English as their second language- four of whom are just learning English - and one student receives special education services.
Despite their situations, my students are resilient, courageous, and strong.
My students need structure and a positive environment to help them learn best. With a supportive staff and focus on our school's core values, they are thriving. They are learning to develop skills that will help them be successful now and throughout their lives. Would you please help me help them grow and maintain their success?
My Project
In my wonderful class of fifth and sixth graders, I use a classroom economy system to promote good behavior and academia. My students love getting money, buying things, and even paying their monthly rent and bills! I find that using a money system teaches my students the real life value of hard work paying off!
Please help me give my students more exciting things to buy in our monthly store!
Contributing to this project will help me give my students better financial literacy which will prepare them for their future! The items that I am requesting to buy are different fidgets, toys, and school supplies to stock my store with. My students are very inspired by these items!
