Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning new things every day. They are curious and ask lots of questions because they want to learn more. They see school as a fun place where they can be challenged. My students are intelligent and need engaging activities that will unlock their full potential.
Our neighborhood is under-served and infested with gangs and violence.
This does not hold students back from maximizing their full potential. Kids see our school as a safe haven.
My Project
It can be challenging to teach a class that is not motivated or has disruptive behavior, but positive incentives can create a motivated classroom environment. I feel students should be rewarded to continue their motivated effort. As a teacher, I try to encourage and give incentives for everything. I use table points, raffle tickets, and a prize jar. I have invested my own money into the prize jar because my students deserve it.
Positive incentives create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
I am hoping by having a variety of classroom incentives, students will be excited to do their best to earn prizes and incentives. By having a prize jar with awesome incentives, my unruly students will participate more and try to be more engaged in lessons.
