My Project

Our school's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program supports our school-wide behavior goals of students being Respectful, Responsible, Safe and Kind members of our community. Classroom behavior choices can positively impact the learning environment for all students, and our school uses a token economy where students earn "Otter Shell" when they exhibit behaviors. Tokens can the be used to purchase incentives in our "Otter Store" throughout the school year.

Student buy-in is vital to the success of PBIS, which translates into higher motivation and learning in our classrooms!

When students have an opportunity to buy tangible items such as sought after fidgets, they are motivated to earn and save their Otter Shells, which teaches them how to meet behavior goals while increasing attention and successful learning in a variety of school settings.

Due to funding limitations in our school district, our school is required to fund PBIS completely on our own. This need for continual funding throughout the school year puts added pressure on our school counselor who serves in a variety of capacities to support a wide range of school-wide programs such as PBIS. Supporting this Donors Choose Project would impact nearly 500 students by making a positive difference in our school culture and learning environments. Students would also building lifelong behavior skills and habits that will follow them throughout their school and adult careers. We thank you for supporting this underfunded necessity in our school building!
