Portuguese Books for English Language Learners!

Help me give my students lots of exciting new books in Portuguese to help them grow as readers in both their home language and in English!

My Project

Most of the kids at my school come from in multilingual homes and interact with speakers of many different languages. Research shows that when kids are able to develop their literacy in their home languages, their understanding and performance in English is likely to improve too!

Being able to read and communicate in two languages is a valuable life skill!

There are many students in my school who have recently arrived from Brazil and no longer have access to interesting, grade-level books in Portuguese. This set of high-interest books will allow them to develop (and ultimately transfer) the literacy skills in their home language to the English books they read in class.

For example, if they practice tracking character traits, setting, and theme in these Portuguese books, that will make it easier for them to do the same when they're working on their English-language books! Thank you for supporting our project!
