Help me give my students a dry erase/magnetic easel for our carpet area. This moveable easel will help students learn in various places around our room. The binders and labels will be used to create student portfolios too!
My firsties are a fun, energetic, and collaborative bunch! They are active, hands-on learners who come to school every day excited to learn. Their excitement and curiosity are contagious. My 24 first graders come from many different socio-economic backgrounds and have a variety of academic and behavioral needs. Several of my students receive special education and Title I services. I hold high expectations for each one of my students and believe that they all can and will be successful and achieve at high levels.
For six and seven-year-old learners, learning needs to be on visual and on display at all times.
My Project
My goal is to create a collaborative community within my classroom that is rich in conversation and active learning experiences. This portable easel will allow our classroom to write messages, use magnetic letters to spell words, review content, share ideas, ask questions, and discover new ideas. Students will have the opportunity to share the pen in math and writing lessons. They will be able to collaboratively work together at a center stationed at the easel. This easel will provide endless learning opportunities for my first graders.
Authentic, learning experiences can take place all over the classroom.
The labels and binders will be used to create student portfolios, capturing student growth and learning. Students will be able to graph their learning, set goals in their learning, and capture moments they are proud of in their portfolio. The markers and crayons will allow students to creatively express their learning. The dice will give students a chance to play many partner/team games in math.
