Students have been engrossed in reading daily and preparing for discussion questions. Each day I meet with 7 students and we discuss questions from a part of the book. Students are very engaged and seem to be connecting with the characters on a deep level. We have been focusing on inference skills, analyzing text, and point of view. \r\n\r\nOne of my students, who always brings a graphic novel with him each day to read, says, \"I usually only read graphic novels, but this book is inspiring!\" I told the students they didn't have to take the book home, but most have been carrying it around with them wherever they go. During our centers and indoor recess times they have become a favorite item to play with. \r\nThe magnetic pattern blocks have supplemented what we are already doing in math.
