Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We live in an amazing, sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate here with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native, struggle to meet basic classroom needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to make sure they have a classroom filled with essential items that they can access at any time. Their social/emotional well-being depends on knowing that they are free to use basic learning items in our classroom that will not run out! I am therefore creating a take what you need shelf that students can access at any time!
The items I am requesting will provide our freshmen learners with popcorn for us to use as rewards for completing outdoor lessons and as part of a field trip fundraiser.
This popcorn will go a long way in ensuring our students have a fun and rewarding classroom that supports their social-emotional learning. I am requesting popcorn that we can use year-round. Students will be able to have warm popcorn to fill their bellies after long days of working outside!
