My Project

I love how my middle school students show up with big personalities, deep questions, and a growing sense of who they are. They’re thoughtful, funny, and full of potential. They’re at an age where they crave both structure and self-expression.

The items in this project are simple, but each one is chosen with intention.

The tall shelving unit gives students a clear, organized space to find what they need for their specific class. This reduces transition chaos and gives them ownership over their materials. The magnetic clips help us display student work and rotate daily instructions, allowing students to see themselves and their voices represented in our space.

The puzzle board is a collaborative tool that builds community. It invites students to slow down, work together, and return to an unfinished task, which fosters both patience and pride. The highlighters and colorful classroom décor add fun pops of color while supporting focus, visual organization, and classroom routines.

One of the most personal additions is the full-length mirror. In middle school, students are highly aware of how they present themselves. This mirror, combined with positive affirmations, gives them a safe way to check in, whether it’s to fix their hair, take a deep breath, or remind themselves that they belong here.

Every item in this project supports my goal of creating a classroom that feels organized, calm, expressive, and student-centered. When students feel comfortable in their environment, they engage more deeply in their learning, and that’s what this is all about!
