Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds that shape their learning experiences and contribute to that of their peers. Like many students, mine are excited about the hands-on and innovative approaches to their learning in order to not only comprehend the concepts they need to know but to have fun while doing it.

My students also strive to find new ways of incorporating alternative methods to our lessons that make them relatable to what interests them and to ensure that those lessons have a lasting impact beyond the current school year.

My Project

This project will aim at not only helping our club officers increase recruitment for our History Club the following school year, but also demonstrate to them several business related skills pertaining to advertising and marketing. Our officers will be able to compare if their business strategies for recruitment and the time they invested paid-off when compared to membership counts from the previous school year at the same time. Students will also explore how these approaches are used in the business world, by incorporating financial literacy to calculate the cost acquisition for each member and seeing its effectiveness, comparing it to the real-world where marketing campaigns must be successful, if not they could jeopardize a company's sustainability.

Using the resources requested, our club officers will design and launch a recruitment campaign for our History Club.

Design a slogan, making posters and historically-themed buttons. We'll also use the popcorn machine and kits for our afterschool meetings to attract new members, using the popcorn as a loss-leader. The campaign will seek to represent the different opportunities our club officers, while also engaging students through a fun approach using history and snacks at our afterschool meetings and service projects. At the conclusion of the recruitment period, our treasurer and their deputy treasurer will create a comparison of members between the two school years and show whether the campaign was successful and the costs that were attributed to the growth or decline in membership. The officer team, if growth is shown, will then generate ideas on how to continue and expand upon their efforts. If a decline is shown, the officer team will revisit and revise their efforts looking at areas of improvement. This will provide our officer team, with some insight on the practice of the business field and financial literacy.
