My Students

Six and seven year-olds are just about the most enthusiastic people on the planet. If you were to walk into my classroom and ask them what they are learning you might hear "I'm learning to be a better reader." "I'm getting smarter in math."... but you will also hear "I'm learning to be kind." "I'm learning to persevere."

We are a classroom family and more than anything I want for my students to feel important, empowered and part of something special - to own their dreams and their education.

I hope you will consider supporting these amazing kids with this request and other projects that make our classroom a great place to be.

My Project

Our 1st Graders would like to study pond habitats this year. We have a wonderful wetland within walking distance that we would like to utilize for hands-on science experiences - but we need books and teacher resources to create a rich and authentic learning experience for the students in each of our first grade classrooms.

Our students will read and learn about plants and animals within a riparian ecosystem, research lake birds and dragonflies, and collaborate with their peers to create pond habitat dioramas.

With your support, this project will help us to meet Next Generation Science Standards, and allows us to become stewards of our local environment in the process.
