My students need Polydron Geometry Frameworks to aid them in developing spatial awareness of two and three dimensional geometric shapes.

My Students
My 3rd graders come from a rural school in Oklahoma. They are eager to start their day in an environment that is warm and inviting.
They engage in collaborating with each other on projects and love new experiences.
Our classroom is a place to inquire, create, and engineer solutions to real word problems. We work on purposeful activities to challenge our minds. We have a family friendly classroom and work to encourage each other to be the best we can be.
My Project
My students will use Polydron Frameworks to construct 3D objects. My students will have the ability to create a model, name solid shapes, count edges and vertices, differentiate between flat and solid shapes, and compare shapes.
The Polydron Frameworks allow students to visually see the difference between 2D and 3D geometric shapes.
The Polydron Frameworks can be used with the nets we have now to manipulate them into a closed solid shape.
My students will discuss and show the characteristics of the geometric shapes they have made. They will use the math vocabulary when describing an object: faces, edges, and vertices.
