My Students
Students at our small, rural school have many challenges stacked against them. As a Title I school, many families live below the national poverty level. They depend on food stamps, free school lunches, and weekend food backpacks. In spite of this, our students are reading more than ever. Library circulation is up and students can't wait to get their hands on newly released books.
My students depend on library books as many families simply don't have the means to buy books for their kids.
This project will allow me to stock my poetry section with newly published and highly rated poetry books and novels in verse. I know I won't be able to keep these books on the shelves!
My Project
The books. I am requesting for this project, will update the poetry section in the our high school library just in time for National Poetry Month. They are written by students' favorite authors and recommended from a variety of professional sources. I know that my students will love them! All of these books will be housed in the school library, so they will be available to every student in our school.
Students clamor for new poetry and novels in verse - this project will give that section of the library a much needed update!
The poems and books in this collection speak of identity, belonging, love, justice and more - topics that are near and dear to the hearts of teens. This collection has been curated to appeal to a wide variety of readers. Please help me engage these young people in a love of reading!
