My Students

Every day, I have the joy of creating memories of success, failure, and perseverance while teaching kindergartners the joys of learning.

My kindergartners want to be the best that they can, yet our state is 49th in school funding.

We are a Title I school, where everyone receives free breakfast and most receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students come from trauma-filled backgrounds, low-income​ families, and will be the first to go to college.

Despite these struggles, my 5-year-old scholars are still inquisitive. They are full of questions, from the iconic "Why is the sky blue?" to the question I was asked the other day, "Why do apples come in different colors?" I want my students to further their curiosity by learning how to read, write, do the math, and be knowledgeable about the world. Furthermore, I want them to go home and share their learning with their families.

My Project

We are closed for the rest of the school year. I miss my kindergarten students every day, but still want to provide the best (remote) education I can. I am asking for resources to help.

My students need engaging (sometimes humorous) poetry to learn skills at home.

Better yet, these poems are also set to catchy tunes.

Students will be able to share the poems with their families, get their reading abilities ready for first grade work, and have smiles on their face when they have a sense of achievement.
