My Students

My students are high school language arts students, sophomores through 12th grade, at a Class 1 rural school.

Our school originated in 1954 and serves 3 neighboring communities, all coming together in one building to make up just under 300 students Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Although small, we are ahead of the game when it comes to technology, which is in each and every classroom throughout the building. The high school classes are all 1:1 with iPads, and I am a certified Apple Teacher.

My Project

I plan on assigning a semester long project to my sophomores in my Language Arts II classes. I will have them create a book talk/recommendation on a book they read during 1st semester. This assignment will meet many standards, as well as help with their public speaking skills, but in a new environment and outlet. I will post these on YouTube and link them on my website so other students can get book recommendations from their friends!

This equipment will help my students create first-class podcasts and help them become familiar with the equipment.

Who knows? Maybe some of them will be future podcasters!
