Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade class is filled with students learning to become independent, learning to use words to express their needs, wants and ideas. Most importantly, they are able to be with their teacher this year instead of distance learning. Although we are still wearing masks and social distancing my kiddos come to school eager to learn and being able to see their friends on a daily basis.
My students also face many challenges and setbacks in their lives yet they show resilience by asking for help and striving to do better in academics.
They are learning how to share with others and take responsibility for their actions.
My Project
The headphones will be a way to improve the learning environment. Students will be able to use them during centers for reading, independent work and during tests. My students have been doing their best not to get distracted from hearing other classmates listen to audio books without headphones. Some students are sensitive to noise and this makes a stressful and uncomfortable environment.
The new headphones will help my students focus during reading time or answer questions as it is being told without unwanted noise in the classroom.
This will create a sense of personal space which can build confidence in learning. It will enhance their learning experience as well. I also want my students to thrive during testing and good headphones helps in reducing noise and distractions. They will be able to learn at their own pace which will reduce any stress they may be feeling.
I want to give my students the best learning experience in the classroom and having headphones available will help them to block out sounds during a test, build a distraction-free learning experience and making learning fun and engaging.
