My Students

My Super-Star students are proactive, determined, and eager to learn. They are focused on having a growth mindset and challenge themselves each day to S-T-R-E-T-C-H their brains. They are up for any new challenge. My students love engaging projects and challenges that allow them to grow. I am in awe seeing them come to school each day with a "I can do it attitude."

They are ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

It is amazing to watch their confidence grow daily. They believe they can accomplish any goal they make, if they work hard. Truly, I borrow their courage and willingness to try new things each day!

I have a range of ability levels. Regardless of the academic range, after a day of stretching their thinking, learning new and challenging concepts, the students gleam with pride as they turn sideways walking out the door. They confidently explain their brains grew so much during the day, they have to turn sideways because their brain won't fit through the door. Their confidence and love for learning are contagious. Every day I am inspired by my students seeing them "train their brain."

My Project

Our school has several on line apps that we use with iPads and Chromebooks. The students are engaged in these several times a day, in groups, while I work with other groups or one-on-one. If they don't have headphones, the volume becomes cacophonous and nobody is able to concentrate. At the beginning of the year I ask for them to bring a pair from home, but they either can't, or they bring them but the headphones aren't the best quality, and break.

It is virtually impossible to teach them to listen to the directions when they can't hear the directions clearly.

By having quality headphones available, my students will be able to be successful in their online work, which will enable their fellow students working with me the opportunity to be successful because they, too, will be able to hear my directions/teaching clearly!
