My students are constantly faced with challenges most people couldn't imagine. Despite the constant struggle, these students come to school every day, ready to learn. I am looking to keep their love of learning alive and bright.
The students are in 2nd grade and love to learn about everything.
Their curiosity is strong, and I aim to keep it that way. All students receive free lunch based on their living situations, and most students live in a single parent household. I focus on the positives in their lives during the school day, especially since most students don't have much positive in their lives.
I cannot control what happens beyond the school day, but I know I can help keep their spirits alive and engage them in hands-on learning.
Students are in school from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm, which is 8 hours. In those 8 hours, kids are expected to sit at their desk and complete work. In a developmental sense, kids aren't meant to sit for that long. Expecting students to sit for that long creates focus issues and fidgeting issues. This is when most problems arise.
Rather than students getting in trouble and losing focus, flexible seating will allow students to move while doing their work.
This will help students focus on what they're completing, and keep kids out of trouble.
Wobble seats are great for students who need constant motion without being disruptive. Cushions will keep students from not wanting to sit down and make the chairs a bit softer. Bouncy straps will help students who have difficulty keeping their feet still by allowing them to bounce their feet quietly. Pillows will give comfort to students who are at our library station during centers.
With the use of these seating options, students will have more motivation to learn while being able to get wiggles out!
