My students need to visit KidSpace Children's Museum! It is an AMAZING place, but our school district only allows us to visit places that don't charge admission. Help!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The challenge facing our ducklings is MONEY, or lack thereof. We desperately want to visit KidSpace Children's Museum! Our school district doesn't allow field trips to places that charge admission, but even if they did, we couldn't afford the $10 per child fee. Please donate!
Our second graders are the coolest cats you'll ever meet, but their world is very small.
Because their busy families cannot afford to visit expensive museums, our kids miss out on the enriching experiences that their wealthier peers have access to... experiences that all children deserve! Some of my students have never even been to the beach, less than 6 miles away. Our school is a magnet, which means that many students start and end the day with a bus ride of up to 90 minutes. Our school is also a high-poverty one, which means that many students do not have access to the luxuries, let alone the basic necessities, that other children have. These kids are sweet to their core, curious about EVERYTHING, and hungry to learn! Please help open widen their world by sending us to the children's museum.
As a high-poverty school, our ducklings and their families cannot afford to experience this amazing science museum without YOUR help. Please donate!
My Project
This field trip will CHANGE LIVES! Our kids will get to explore two acres of outdoor hands-on science exhibits, go climbing on a rock wall, scamper through a giant insect tower, and slither through an underground ant tunnel. Kidspace's indoor exhibits and outdoor learning environments offer many opportunities for children to explore and investigate the natural world and express themselves in creative ways. With your help, our students will participate in the Seasonal Discovery program on Caterpillars, Chrysalis and Butterflies (this dovetails perfectly with our Life Science standards in second grade). It will be a magical day where learning comes alive!
This trip is so important because my students deserve to experience this fascinating children's science museum, and they shouldn't have to miss out on that just because we can't afford it.
Although my ducklings lack financial resources, they have an incredible work ethic and desire to learn as they arrive every day. They deserve to leave the hectic noise of our urban streets for a day and explore nature firsthand, learning science through their fingertips.
