Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like when you were learning to read? It seems to come naturally to some while others struggle to decode words. iPad Minis will create excitement, instill confidence, and provide endless reading material to meet each student's varied literacy needs.
First grade is filled with books of all levels as students are venturing through the world of literature at different paces.
My students live in a generation of technology. Our school is a new charter school lacking in financial resources to provide the students with technology to use in the classroom on a daily basis.
My class consists of 25 precious, loving, and unique first grade individuals. I can truthfully say each student has a passion for learning. My students are part of a charter school, open for our second year, fostering community, innovation, and passion. We work daily to create students who think creatively and critically and apply their knowledge to their everyday lives. Our school community is filled with a population that values education and works tirelessly to ensure all students have the support necessary to succeed.
My Project
My students need two iPad Minis and covers in the classroom to enrich their learning experience and give them access to endless learning opportunities. The iPad Mini will open a door of possibilities for these kids. They can be used for numerous things, from small groups to individual use, from enrichment to intervention, from guided reading to spelling apps, from math apps to science experiments, all at their precious fingertips.
The iPad Minis will also greatly enrich the listening portion of our literacy program that is key in developing young readers. This will not only expose them to the 21st century technology, but it will also bring with it a world of opportunities to enhance their learning in other areas.
