Help me give my students each a learning stool that will provide meaningful movement which will increase their learning and engagement. I notice significant improvement in focus and retention of information when my students use these stools!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has been serving our community for over 100 years. The enrollment is around 500 students with an additional 90 TK students in 4 full day classrooms.

96% of our families qualify for Title I, and we are 4th in the district wide Title I ranking.

Our population is predominantly Hispanic, with 73% of our TK-grade 5 students classified as English Language Learners (ELL). Our ELL students are one of our target groups that we need to support in order to close the achievement gap. 16% of our overall population of students qualify for supports and services through an IEP.

In our room, all of the students have a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities.

My Project

My students were lucky enough to receive four learning stools in a previous DonorsChoose project. THEY LOVE THESE STOOLS!

My students have said things like "Our stools really help us concentrate" and "I can do my best work when I sit on a stool!".

I do not have enough stools for every student to use one and many days, students feel like they could be doing stronger work if they could sit in a stool too.

We need you! Please help us get enough stools so that every student can have one.

Help me continue to facilitate my student's new found love of learning and school. Students know that these classroom items help improve their learning and are begging me to get more stools. I need your help!
